The SEMTA – MECAMAT colloquium aims at gathering expert researchers from different horizons (analytical, numerical and experimental) working on scale-bridging in Mechanics, spanning the domains of Mechanical, Biomechanical, Aerospace, and Civil Engineering.

The colloquium will focus on the description and prediction of the effective behavior and fracture of heterogeneous materials (polycrystals, porous, composites, …, organic or metallic, …) and structural systems (fluid-structure interaction, …, soft structures, …) from low to high strain rates loading. This meeting will offer the opportunity to share new findings and increase the understanding of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics at various spatial and temporal scales, e.g., (i) covering full-field method, (ii) considering probabilistic numerical microstructures or idealized representative volume elements, and (iii) homogenization approaches (e.g. phase field methods, level-set and data driven methods) including various simulation techniques developed for different time and length scales. From the laboratory to real applications, the colloquium will also focus on revealing scale-bridging in static and dynamic experiments.

The format of the conference consists of invited lectures by experts in the field. In addition, there will be a limited number of contributed poster presentations by young investigators (PhD students in all stages of their PhD programs, postdocs and young researchers).

Aiming at strengthening the connection between SEMTA and MECAMAT, lectures will be given by world-class researchers coming from Spain and France (60%) and from other countries in Europe and United States.
