Summary of the work :

The PhD work will be splitted into three parts.

  1. Development of coupled high-throughput local materials characterization methods (year 1, LGF ,Saint-Etienne) : the goal is to develop and validate an experimental procedure, based on the correlation of EBSD and ultrafast nanoindentation mapping, to feed the mean-field model.
  2.  Development of a mean field model (year 2, LGF and CEA): the goal will be to develop recrystallization mean field models dedicated to anisothermal loadings representative of thermonuclear fusion applications. This model might be implemented in the future as a subroutine in the RXMAT model developed by CEA.
  3. Tungsten recrystallization kinetics under tokamak environment conditions (year 3, CEACadarache): The goal will be to extend the mean field model to account for effect of defects induced by neutron irradiation. This task will be strongly supported by experimental data provided by the EUROFUSION Consortium
