In the frame of hot-dip galvanizing process, recent developments of new metallic coating allowed to improve anti-corrosion and mechanical properties. However, the latter bring new constraints in terms of process and product quality management. This is particularly the case at the wiping section.

The objective of the internship is to provide a better understanding of the link between the parameters of the wiping process, the behaviour of the metallic liquid and the quality of the final coating. During the training period, the intern will carry out an approach based on the triptic:

  • Theoretical considerations: increasing the knowledge on the topic thanks to bibliographic investigation
  • Experimental analysis: follow industrial trials, database analysis and sample characterization
  • Modeling of physical observed phenomenon

The main idea is to validate or improve current modelling, estimate pertinent effective parameters to describe behaviour of different metallic coatings and their influence on current defects. A synthesis of the study will gather the performed analysis and propose next orientation.
