Development of Mass Balance Model for Hot-dip Galvanizing Baths in Python

Recent developments of new metallic hot-dip coatings allowed to improve anti-corrosion and mechanical properties. However, the latter bring new constraints in terms of process management. This is particularly the case for the metallic bath management, where adapted bath feeding strategy must be determined to guaranty the bath temperature & bath composition stability during the production. For that purpose, mass balance models and thermal balance models are developed. These models are then used to perform risk assessment analyses for new process practices.
The objective of the internship is to transfer an existing Mass-Balance model (Excel – VBA macro) used for Hot-Dip Galvanizing bath into Python language. The main tasks of the internship will be to:
- Develop the model in Python language
- Develop the required HMI
- Implement different simulation module in the model (second pot, ingots sequence proposal,..)
- Build the Model Quality folder, based on R&D center internal procedure
- Participate to risk assessment studies for new process practices with the proposed model.
